SANYO DENKI model number for two and three wired dc fans

How to Quickly Find Two- and Three-Wire Fan Options

Inquiries from our distributors and customers regarding the availability of two- or three-wire options for our fan products are common. As a customer-focused company, we prioritize delivering timely and precise information to address their concerns. This article serves as a simplified guide to assist in quickly determining the availability of our fans’ two- or three-wire variants.

Brief Overview of DC Fan Sensors

DC fans are available in two-, three-, and four-wire configurations, each with varying features and functionality.

  • Two-wire: Power and ground only. Run at full speed with no speed control or tach output.
  • Three-wire: Power, ground, and add a tach pulse/lock sensor output to monitor RPMs but no speed control.
  • Four-wire: Power, ground, tach pulse/lock sensor output, and a PWM input control for varying fan speed.

However, it’s worth noting that in some series, we only publish the four-wire fan model in the catalog sheet, despite offering other wire configurations.

Understanding The Catalog Page

Both part numbers above are four-wire versions, and you can determine if we offer two, three, or four-wire versions by referring to the model index section in our online catalog, or if you have a hard copy, refer to the model index section in the back. To check the different wire configurations available for our DC fans, see the below explanation with the numbers in red (2, 3, or 4) in each column to the associated model number.

For example, both 9GT0412P3J001 and the other PN you can see below are four-wire versions. However, the two-wire variant is labeled as 9GT0412J3002, the three-wire variant with a pulse sensor is 9GT0412J3001, and the three-wire variant with a lock sensor is the 9GT0412J3D001. Please note that if a dash appears in the table, it means we don’t offer that particular wire configuration for that fan model.

Helpful Guidelines

To assist you in identifying our various fan models, please keep in mind these general guidelines:

  • Four wire fans have “P” in the middle of the model number, e.g., 9GT0412P3J001.
  • Three wire fans don’t have “P” in the middle of the model number, e.g., 9GT0412J3001 (or 9GT0412J3D001 if it has a lock sensor indicated by “D”).
  • Two wire fans have “2” in the suffix of the model number, e.g., 9GT0412J3002.

In conclusion, if you have any questions or doubts about the wire configuration of our fans, please don’t hesitate to contact your local SANYO DENKI AMERICA sales office or sales representative, and we’ll be glad to assist you.
